Well what can i say this was a proper derby game and was a game where both clubs dominated a half each. It was Ely who were the better in the first half. Early on, a volley from T. Beck flashed over the bar. 10 mins later the Ely left winger broke the offside trap to face me one on one. His first effort i saved with my left foot and as the ball spun upwards and back toward goal i managed to get to it before he did and put it out of play. Ely then took a deserved lead when a Robbie Mason cross was deflected into his own net by Andy Eady. HT 1 - 0. We started the second half much better and kept the ball well. The turning point came when there was a 40 minute break in play due to a serious injury to an Ely City player. He seemed to land badly on his ankle and the ambulance was called. Just like to send best wishes to the player and hope he has a speedy recovery. After the delay we dominated and created alot of good chances but found Ely Citys goalkeeper Lee Pacey in great form making 3 fantastic saves. But it was Pacey who went from hero to villian as when John Olive was put through he got to the ball before the advancing Pacey who brought him down leaving Steve Bugg the chance to equalise. Thats the life of a keeper. On the whole a great game and a fair result. FT 1 - 1
